1. Can we still participate if all members of previous team have graduated from school?

Yes. The school can still send team with new members to participate in Phase II Challenge by ‘adopting’ the i-Trail created by the previous team in Phase I.

2. Can new member(s) be added to replace member(s) who has/have left school?

Yes. Team just needs to update the team status with the particulars of new member(s) to be submitted to the organisers during online registration.

3. Who can we turn to for clarification regarding details of the competition?

4. Can we still participate if none of us has prior knowledge of trail guiding?

Yes. There will be a trail guiding and facilitation workshop for all teams to sign up prior to the public engagement process in order to equip the students with the necessary skills in trail guiding and facilitation.

5. Can we still participate if none of us has prior knowledge of creating and refining i-Trails?

Yes. Minimal ICT skills are required. Trail Shuttle Toolkit contains a Trail Creation Wizard which will guide you step-by-step through the creation and publication of your i-Trail. However, students are encouraged to sign up for the Trail Shuttle Boot Camp Training Workshop to receive free training in creating and refining their trails.

6. What is Trail Shuttle Toolkit?

Trail Shuttle is a product developed as part of the FutureSchools@Singapore programme. Trail Shuttle is also currently being used and further refined as part of an EduLab project undertaken by the S2 cluster of schools.

Trail Shuttle Toolkit is an exciting web-based toolkit which allows user to easily create and publish trails for others. The published trails can be accessed through different platforms and devices including Windows 8 devices, Android devices as well as iPads and iPhones.

7. What is SG50 i-Trail Mobile App? Is SG50 i-Trail Mobile App free?

It is a mobile app with the aggregation of all student-created i-Trails in NiTC over the past three years to be specially presented to the nation as a young people’s gift to the nation during the celebration of its golden jubilee.

The SG50 i-Trail mobile app is free for all users and can be downloaded from Google Play or Apple App Store. Once downloaded, users will have access to all the SG50 i-Trails free. Henceforth, all participating teams in Phase II Challenge are to use this mobile app for their public engagement purposes.

8. Is it compulsory to attend the Boot Camp and Trail Guiding Workshop?

No. Teams can still register to participate in the Challenge without attending the training workshops. However, students are strongly encouraged to attend the Boot Camp and Trail Guiding Workshop as these training workshops provide students with an opportunity to explore the full potential of Trail Shuttle. Furthermore, the students will be equipped with the necessary tour guiding and facilitation skills required in engaging the members of public with their SG50 i-Trails.

9. Do all members need to attend the training workshops?

No. Each team can choose to send any number of representatives to attend the Boot Camp. However, each team can only choose up to 3 representatives to attend the Trail Guiding Workshop.

10. What do I need to prepare for the training workshops?

Teams will be introduced to Trail Shuttle and guided in the process of refining the existing i-Trails using the Toolkit. As for the Tour Guiding workshop, teams will be guided by the experienced trainers in learning the necessary skills for tour guiding and facilitation.

11. What material (e.g. photographs, videos) can we use in refining our i-Trails? Can we use what we find on the Internet?

You are strongly encouraged to create your materials using your own devices e.g camera, video camera. You can also use materials from other sources as long as there is no infringement of copyright.

12. What happens to our i-Trails after the refinement process?

All refined SG50 i-Trails created will be actively used by the public. All refined SG50 i-Trails will also be aggregated in a special SG50 Mobile App and be presented to Singapore in 2015 as part of our celebration of 50 years of independence.

This free app will be available for public to download and experience the aggregated SG50 i-Trails after the launch in April 2015.

The copyright of the i-Trail shall, however, still belong to you and you are free to use it for your own purposes such as Teaching & Learning, public engagement etc

13. Which mobile app should be used for public engagement – Trail Shuttle Mobile App or SG50 i-Trail Mobile App?

SG50 i-Trail Mobile App. This free app will be available for public to download and use after the launch in April 2015 and all teams should download it and use it when engaging members of the public. Furthermore, teams can also request their trail users to download this SG50 i-Trail Mobile into their mobile devices.
